He deserves deep tribute for the whole season. In spite of tha fact that not everytime they played what they wanted, he was always able to prepare the team to reach the champion title. The coach, Pavel Vrba.
Fight till the end. That has been this season of the Gambrinus League. Everyone´s eyes were fixed on several stadiums all over the Czech Republic. But it was Hradec Králové who could decide about the title. The results maths was obvious – Viktoria needed to win the last match to get the trophy. Viktoria players knew everything was in their hands so they entered the match well-concentrated.
The 29th round of the Gambrinus League could answer the question what team will become the Czech champion 2012/13. If Viktoria made it beat current champion Liberec they would definitely celebrate the Gambrinus League win at home without regards to Sparta´s result. How successful our team was?
After a final blown deep disappointment was seen in the faces of Viktoria players. They did not make it beat Slovan Liberec in this very important match on their way to the title. „Today it was fear of gaining the title. That´s the reason why we didn´t make it at the beginning of the match but paradoxically we could go to leading after Daniel Kolář´s head. This was a key moment in my opinion. If we´d scored we´d have made the rest of the match because of the euphoria,“ Pavel Horváth thinks.
The coach Pavel Vrba did not hide his delight about a very well-done job of his players in the match against Olomouc. Viktoria´s very patient performance beat Olomouc 0:1 and thanks to Sparta´s loss they jumped at the top of the standings for 5 points again. „These are very high-valued points for us,“
Viktoria entered the match against Olomouc with a clear goal – to gain 3 points and keep their being ahead of Sparta. After a very fighting game full of twists and wonderful football moments Viktoria brought all the 3 points from Olomouc.
Even though their performance was fighting they did not make it against Slavia and lost 0:1. Of course, this is a complication in their way to the title but the captain Pavel Horváth stirred his co-players up and did not lose his renowned humour.
Viktoria had the next important step to the title ahead. On the home pitch they met Slavia Praha, which was very encouraged by their last high win so they did not come to Plzeň to defend only.
The match of the two completely different half-times and with heart-attack but happy end for Viktoria. This could be characteristics of the match Viktoria – České Budějovice. „If I shall evaluate the match, I´d start with the 1st half-time when we played very well. We scored two goals and hit an upright. We had control over the game and were successful. Unfortunately we messed up the beginning of the 2nd half-time,“ Pavel Vrba thinks about the match.
On Friday evening Viktoria entered the 26th round of the Gambrinus League and welcomed České Budějovice. There met two teams on the completely opposite ends of the standings. Viktoria is the 1st on the contrary Dynamo is the last team.
