FC Viktoria Plzeň outplayed its rivals without any bigger problems
For the first time in this season, the players have presented Viktoria Plzeň in a competitive match before the homers. The return match of the second preliminary round of the European League with FC Metalurgi Rustavi from Georgia was well open, as they had brought a promising result 1:3 from there. The home players had the only role – to confirm the procedure before the home fans.
Supported by excited fans, the home “Viktorka” players were more active since the beginning of the game and already in the seventh minute they scored. The team rejoiced the fans, when after the centre of David Limberský, the Michal Ďuriš´s header got over the Georgian goalkeeper Bediašvilli. That gave Viktoria teammates the calm they needed to the beginning of the match (1:0).
Almost immediately after, thanks to a great action of Edgar Malakyan who disorganized the visitors defence, Vladimír Darida shot a well-aimed ball from a medium distance and increased the score again (2:0). This wild start made homers shout even the magic number 5. However the matched calmed down a bit, the Viktoria players were absolutely dominant on the field and didn´t let the rivals to get to any bigger chance.
It was in the twenty-ninth minute, when Michal Ďuriš shot from the line again, the visitors goalkeeper was ready this time thou. Unfortunately, there were no more goals from hopeful chances of FC Viktoria Plzeň and as neither the opponents threatened, both of the teams left the field scored 2:0.
Again, the Viktoria players began more actively in the second half. However again like in the end of the first half, there were little inexact opens and passes which burnt chances off. Thanks to one of those inexactnesses the visitors got a dangerous opportunity. However the goalkeeper Petr Bolek resisted the kick of Dimitri Tatanashvili, who used to play for Viktoria too. Just a bit later, Jakub Hora passed a ball to Michal Ďuriš who went into a great scoring position but wasn´t able to hit exactly. Although Jakub Hora himself shot, the visitors goalman pushed it out of the goal.
In the seventy-seventh minute Edgar Malakyan got near the rivals goal, where some troubles were stirred up. Unluckily, he only hit the cross-bar. The homers got worried in the seventy-fifth minute when Sikharulidze, a new player on the field, threatened Petr Bolek with his kick. Nevertheless, the goalkeeper showed his best and kept defending from all the rival chances until the end. The match has been won by FC Viktoria Plzeň 2:0.
