The comeback of a great personality was announced immediately after the 2015/16 season end. The forward Marek Bakoš signed his contract with Viktoria Plzeň for two years and in June he is ready to join the team´s pre-season trainings. The Slovakian footballer comes back after a year and a half when he played for Liberec. He helped them to win the Czech cup, to represent the team in the Europa League and to sit third in the final Synot League standings. He scored 12 goals and became the best Liberec´s scorer.

Plzeň became the key station in Bakoš´s career. He first joined the team in 2009 and in 124 league matches he scored 44 goals. He also scored significant goals in the Europa League and the Champions League.

„Marek Bakoš´s comeback is great news for us in several regards. The team welcomed an excellent forward who has plenty of experience with tough matches. Moreover, he is 100% professional whose training discipline and behaviour in the team could be considered as an example for most of the league footballers. I´m convinced Marek will play an important role in our team again,“ the manager Adolf Šádek said about the new reinforcement. „Marek is a man of victory who doesn´t want to lose any game or training exercise. Every team need a player like he is if they want to feel the success. He is also deeply linked to Plzeň because his family live here. Every time Marek came back to the Doosan Arena he felt big support of Viktoria´s fans and this fact helped us as well.“

A native of Nová Baňa (Slovakia) admits he had to hesitate the decision a lot. „It wasn´t easy. It needs no discussion I have a deep connection to Plzeň, in sport and personal point of view. I appreciate the success we reached as well as the fact tha club was trully forthcoming concerning my transfer to Liberec earlier. However, I enjoyed a great year in Liberec full of great experiences, big matches and unforgettable memories. I was considering it a lot and my family also said their words about that. Finally, I´m happy to proudly wear the red-and-blue jersey again. I´d like to thank a lot to the Slovan Liberec´s management, team, coaches and fans for perfect time there. Nowadays, I´ve got a new chapter opening to me and I´m looking forward to it,“ Marek Bakoš said.

„Not much changed here in Plzeň. I´ve visited the Doosan Arena several times during the season so I saw all the changes here. There´s a new corner tower and the inner space has undercome a reconstruction as well. This beautiful stadium gets better and better. Of course, I´ve been in touch with the players and the coaches so my comeback will be easy and natural. I´m looking forward to the fantastic fans as well. I can promise them I will do my best for the team´s success.“
