On Thursday evening Ernst Happel Stadion in Wien welcomed the match between two Europa League participants FC Viktoria Plzeň and Austria Wien. Austria were better in the standings before this match because they won over Astra Giurgiu, Viktoria tied with AS Roma.

Viktoria seemed to be more into the game since the first minutes and possessed the ball more than their opponent. On 14 minutes of the game Tomáš Hořava had an effort on goal but his blocked attempt meant no troubles for the goalkeeper Almer. Moments later David Limberský was shown a yellow card for his foul on Venuta. Austria scored when they first threatened Matúš Kozáčik´s gate, however, the goal was not counted because of standing off-side. On 24 minutes Kozáčik performed an excellent save when Austria attempted to score. They became braver and braver with the break approaching and in between 26th and 32nd minutes Viktoria´s goalkeeper had to stop them even three times. On 39 minutes Zeman crossed the ball but Martschinko was faster than Bakoš and quickly rebounded the ball. The last chance of the 1st half was shot by Felipe Pires whose free kick was headed off by Viktoria´s defence. The half-time result was goalless.

Viktoria entered the 2nd half more actively, on 55 minutes Kace shot on goal from the 18-yard box but missed the target. 2 minutes later Milan Petržela left the pitch and Jan Kopic went in. On 61 minutes the defender Filipovic appeared in a promising chance but his shot flew out of an upright. Soon after that Pires scored the second goal of the match but the referee did not count it again for off-side. On 66 minutes Michael Krmenčík substituted Marek Bakoš and created an offensive couple with Tomáš Poznar. Viktoria tried to change the score and Poznar had an effort on goal but Almer had no problems to save his attempt. Soon after that Aleš Matějů was shown a yellow card. Lukáš Hejda and Ergis Kace followed him when they saw yellow cards, too. None of the team scored a goal until the end of the match so the final result was 0:0.
