26-year-old Czech national team defender Jakub Brabec joins Viktoria Plzeň on loan from Genk until the end of the season. He spent the autumn phase in Turkish club Çaykur Rizespor.

"Because of our current situation, when we are missing some players from our defense, completing this move was one of our big targets. We are happy to announce the loan signing of a player with high quality and big experience," said general manager Adolf Šádek about the transfer.

Brabec started his career in Sparta Prague, but when he was young he left for Viktoria Žižkov. In summer 2011 he came back to Sparta and after a one-year loan in Brno he established himself in the starting XI of Sparta. In 2016 he signed for Belgian club Genk, before this season he went on loan to Turkish Çaykur Rizespor.

Thanks to this he became a national team member again. He started 14th times for the Czech Republic and debuted under Pavel Vrba in March 2016 against Sweden. In the Czech top division he has played in 90 matches and scored 6 goals.

"I am happy to get a chance to play regularly again in a Czech club with a big quality. It could also help with my national team career I think," said Jakub Brabec.
