Viktoria Plzeň welcomes a new player to its team. Viktoria´s jersey will be worn for the next three years by twenty-seven-year-old national defender Václav Jemelka, who comes from Sigma Olomouc.

In the morning, he attended a training session in Haná, then got into a car and headed to the west of Bohemia, where he signed a three-year contract. Václav Jemelka is now definitely a player of Viktoria Plzeň.

"He is a very experienced player who is a member of the national team and has also had foreign engagements. It´s no secret that we have been looking for his services for a long time and I am glad that everything has been concluded and we can count on him for the upcoming matches, when we will have to fight for the Champions League," said Adolf Šádek, the CEO of Viktoria.

Viktoria´s head coach Michal Bílek also praises the arrival of the new reinforcements. "He is a left-footed centre defender who is solid in fights and he also has a good distribution. Besides the position of a stopper, he can also alternate on the edge of the defence," he said about Václav Jemelka, who will immediately join the team´s preparation and will be available for Saturday´s league game against Hradec Králové.

"Viktorka was interested in the player for a long time, we appreciate the fact that they persisted and now everything has been realized. The change will definitely benefit Vasek and he will do everything he can to help the club both on the domestic and European scene," said Roman Brulík from RBR SportConsult, the agency representing the player.

Václav Jemelka has 112 starts in the top Czech league, scoring 7 goals. He played 22 league games in Belgium during his guest spell in the competition and made 5 starts for the Czech national team, most recently against Portugal and Spain in the Nations League.

Václav, welcome to Viktorka!
