Viktoria Plzeň welcomes striker Fortune Bassey, who joins the club from Ferencváros, Hungary, on a one-year loan with an option of a permanent transfer.

The Nigerian striker Fortune Bassey is known to the fans mainly from his time in České Budějovice, where he managed to become one of the league stars, scoring 9 league goals during the autumn season and securing a transfer to Ferencváros Budapest, with whom he subsequently celebrated the championship title.

He now joins Viktoria on a one-year loan with an option of a permanent transfer. "Our aim was to expand our squad and strengthen in all ranks ahead of a very challenging autumn on the domestic and European stage. I am glad that we managed to complete the arrival of such a quality player to the offensive," commented Adolf Šádek, the club´s general manager.

The 23-year-old forward will join the training immediately after his arrival and should be available to the coaches for Saturday´s league game against Hradec Králové. "Fortune showed in Budějovice that he is an excellent striker. He has the necessary speed, dynamics and good finishing," said head coach Michal Bílek.

"I know Viktoria very well, it´s a big club with big ambitions. When this opportunity came up, I didn´t hesitate. It´s a huge challenge for me, we have big matches in Europe and in the league and I will do everything I can to be an asset to the team," said the player nicknamed "Forty".

Since Fortune Bassey hit the Champions League preliminary rounds in a Ferencváros jersey, he cannot play for Viktoria in the playoff double-header against Qarabag. However, he will be fully available for the group stage of the Champions League or Europa League.

Fortune, welcome to Doosan Arena!
