He has worked for Hamburg in Germany, Chelsea in England and for the last 11 years as a scout for the first team of one of the most successful clubs on the planet, Manchester City. Now Jan Říčka has decided to take on a new challenge and become the chief scout of Viktoria Plzeň!

Most recently, he was scouting the most suitable reinforcements for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. He recommended Erling Halland and Kevin De Bruyne to the famous club. Since this season, however, Jan Říčka, a renowned football scout, has been scouting talent for Viktoria Plzeň.

"Jan Říčka is one of the absolute best in his field. His experience, contacts and huge insight are something that can move our club forward again and it fits perfectly into our long-term concept. I am personally very happy that we have managed to get him into our club," said CEO and Chairman of the Board Adolf Šádek.

"We were already in contact during his time in Manchester and had a long-term interest in his services. Now everything has been finalized and I am looking forward to working with him," he added.

Sixty-year-old Jan Říčka, who hails from Sušice and graduated from the Faculty of Education in Pilsen a few years ago, will serve as Viktoria´s chief scout. "After a long time in England, it´s a change for me, but nothing will change about my job - I will do my best to make us successful," said Jan Říčka, who had a detailed overview of his new club in previous years.

"Of course I followed everything closely. What the club has achieved under the leadership of Adolf Šádek over the last twelve to thirteen years is unbelievable. Six titles, four times Champions League, it´s really almost a fairy tale story. In addition to the sporting successes, Viktorka´s infrastructure has also been transformed in a great way, with a comfortable stadium, training facilities in Luční Street and for pupils in Skvrňany, and the recently opened youth training centre next to the stadium. Now we have more plans and there is a lot of work and challenges ahead of us, which I am looking forward to," he concluded.
