Viktoria Plzeň lost to Slavia 4:3 in the second round of the extra time. At the post-match press conference, head coach Miroslav Koubek answered the questions of journalists.

What´s the prevailing feeling?

Gloom, of course. We´ve let points slip through our fingers unnecessarily. We had them within our grasp, it looked very promising, but unfortunately we made mistakes that I think are incomprehensible and crucial at the same time, at a moment when we were in control of the game. When I looked at the goals we scored, we made gross mistakes that could have been avoided tactically. It´s a shame. It was unnecessary. Those situations could have been solved. I´m angry with the team for that.

Where do you think the game broke down? Was it at 3:2 when Matěj Vydra went alone on goal and it could have been 4:2?

There were more key moments. These are the situations that influence the development of the game. This was one of them. If it had been 4:2, it could have been completely different. But going back to the first goal, we lost the personal battle again. We had a problem with the aggressiveness of their offensive players. And against Slavia everyone has a problem with that, they are very strong in that. I have to admit that the pressure on the defenders was huge. Experienced players like Sampson Dweh had problems. It wasn´t easy for him either. They´re really strong players.

Is it a complication in the fight for second place?

Yes, it is. We lost three points that we were quite close to. But a game is never won, even when you´re up by two goals with five minutes to go. We should have taken at least a point. So it´s definitely a complication. We made it difficult for ourselves. Now I expect Baník to get closer, pull it down to a point and the decision will be made in Pilsen next week.

Was that an advertisement for football? Given the intensity of the game and seven goals in a showdown between the two best teams in the table?

It was certainly an attractive game, a real advertisement for football. I don´t think any other opponent here could create so many attacking actions, final situations and score so many goals. Most of the opponents against Slavia play from the block. We want to play forward, and sometimes that opens the back door. But we could see that offensively we were able to push Slavia and put them in a tight spot.
