Midfielder Patrik Hrošovský returns home to Viktoria after six years and immediately joined the team at their training camp in Benidorm. A special moment deserves a special toast.
When he left Viktoria Plzeň in 2019 and headed to Genk in Belgium, on his last day at Doosan Arena, he brought his teammates and club staff a small gift in the form of a green bottle of sparkling wine with his photo and signature. It was a thank you for the wonderful years in red and blue and for everything he experienced here with us.
"Save it for a special moment, then open it," said Patrik Hrošovský during his emotional farewell. This "treasure" was carefully guarded and stored in the club archives for six years.
Now is the right time to open this bottle, as it is a special moment for all Viktoria fans – PATRIK HROŠOVSKÝ IS RETURNING HOME TO VIKTORIA!
"I´m happy to be back. Viktoria brought me into big-time football, and now I can give back everything it taught me. I´m really looking forward to it; it means a lot to me," said Patrik Hrošovský after arriving in Benidorm to join the team.
"Patrik is a huge personality who left a big mark on our club, and now he´s coming home, which makes me very happy. I am convinced that he will be an important figure not only on the pitch but also off it," said Adolf Šádek, chairman of the board and CEO of the club, who symbolically toasted the new signing with the aforementioned bottle of sparkling wine.
"I don´t think any of us imagined at the time what occasion this would be. And it couldn´t have turned out better. I look forward to working with him and I believe that together we will meet the challenges that lie ahead," added Adolf Šádek.
Patrik Hrošovský first came to Viktoria from Slovakia as a 17-year-old junior. In 2011, he made his debut in the A team, with which he celebrated three championship titles in the following years. Through his diligence, he worked his way up to become one of the team´s key players and even proudly wore the captain´s armband. An unforgettable moment for all Viktoria fans was his goal at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium against the famous Real Madrid. In the summer of 2019, he transferred to Genk in Belgium, from where he is now returning. He signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with the club with a mutual option for further extension.
