The 2026 World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is fast approaching. Several players from Victoria have made the final rosters for their respective countries. Take a look at who has been called up to the national team and what’s in store for them.

Czech Republic

Following the friendly match against Kosovo, Miroslav Koubek named three Viktoria Prague players to the final roster. Lukáš Červ, Alexandr Sojka, and Denis Višinský will represent the Czech Republic. The Czech national team is already in the United States, where they have one more friendly match against Guatemala ahead of the World Cup to help with acclimatization. Miroslav Koubek’s squad will open the World Cup against South Korea, followed by a match against South Africa, and will conclude the group stage against host Mexico.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

This is only Bosnia and Herzegovina’s second appearance at the World Cup. They first qualified in 2014 for Brazil, where they failed to advance from the group stage. Now they will try again, and Viktorie’s Amar Memić is set to help them do so. Bosnia and Herzegovina also has two friendly matches scheduled as part of their preparation, against North Macedonia and Panama, with the first one already under their belt. They played to a scoreless draw against North Macedonia. In the World Cup group stage, they will face host Canada, Switzerland, and last year’s host, Qatar.

Iraq

Like Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iraq will be making its second appearance at the World Cup. The team first qualified in 1986—coincidentally, also in Mexico—where it failed to win a single match. Iraq had to fight its way to the coveted tournament first in the Asian qualifiers and then in the intercontinental playoff, where it defeated Bolivia. It has thus rightfully earned a second chance, which comes after forty years. However, Iraq faces a tough challenge, as it will face Norway, France, and Senegal in its group. Viktoria fans will be watching their performance closely, as the Iraqi squad includes Merchas Doski, whom the fans will be rooting for.

Austria

Austria dominated its qualifying group, finishing ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina, among others. Ahead of the World Cup, it has only one friendly match planned, against the same opponent as the Czech team: Guatemala. In the group stage, they will face Jordan, Algeria, and defending champion Argentina. Also traveling with the Austrian national team is Viktoria goalkeeper Florian Wiegele, who put in fantastic performances during the season and thus rightfully earned his invitation to the World Cup.

Ghana

Viktoria’s final representative is 22-year-old Prince Adu, who plays for Ghana. Since April, Ghana has been led by Carlos Queiroz, the former coach of Real Madrid and the Portuguese national team, who has also placed his trust in the Viktoria striker. Before departing for the World Cup, Ghana still has a friendly match against Wales. At the World Cup, they will face England, Croatia, and Panama in their group.
