Attendance:
The Viktoria Plzeň soccer team came out on top in their first preseason match ahead of the new season. After trailing 0–1 at halftime, they managed to turn the game around in the second half and, thanks to two goals each from Christophe Kabongo and Matěj Vydra, defeated Artis Brno 4–2.
Viktoria got off to a strong start. As early as the 3rd minute, Mohamed Touré had the first chance, but his shot was blocked by an Artis defender. A minute later, Patrik Hrošovský found Adam Kadlec, but his cross was cleared by the visiting defense. In the 6th minute, Artis scored first to take the lead. Viktoria tried to respond quickly. In the 14th minute, Tomáš Ladra fired a shot from distance, but his attempt went straight down the middle of the goal, where the Brno goalkeeper was ready. In the 21st minute, Kadlec won the ball, Hrošovský sent a dangerous cross into the penalty area, and a corner kick followed. After the corner, the ball hit the post of the Brno goal. Nine minutes later, Ladra took another shot from the edge of the box, but his attempt narrowly missed the goal. Hrošovský threatened again before the end of the first half, but no other significant chances materialized, so Viktoria headed into the locker room trailing by one goal.
The visitors kicked off the second half. In the 46th minute, Christophe Kabongo earned a penalty kick, which he calmly converted to tie the score at 1–1. However, Viktoria’s joy was short-lived, as Artis struck again shortly afterward to regain the lead. The game then swung back and forth. Viktoria posed a threat mainly on set pieces, but Artis’s goalkeeper remained alert. In the 73rd minute, Matěj Vydra got a shot off from the edge of the penalty area and equalized with a precise strike. Viktoria completed the comeback in the closing minutes of the match. In the 82nd minute, Christophe Kabongo scored his second goal, and Matěj Vydra sealed the victory with his second goal in the very final moments. The referee then blew the whistle to end the first preseason friendly of the summer, which Viktoria won.
