Viktoria Plzeň made a successful return to league action, defeating Sigma Olomouc 1-0 at home. The only goal of the match was scored by striker Rafiu Durosinmi.

The players were eager to get back to league football after the international break, so the game was played at a high tempo from the opening minutes. In the 2nd minute, Rafiu Durosinmi tried to surprise the goalkeeper with a long-range shot, but the ball flew just over the goal. Moreover, he was in an offside position, so any goal would not have counted anyway. A moment later, the red-and-blues took a corner kick. Jan Paluska extended the ball to the front post with his heel, but Jan Koutný in the Olomouc goal did not have to intervene. At the other end, Muhamed Tijani had a great chance, but Václav Jemelka intervened at the last moment, sliding in to deflect the ball for a corner.

In the 26th minute, Tomáš Ladra had a chance to score. After a corner kick, he pushed his way into the penalty area and shot from close range, but Koutný saved his attempt. Four minutes later, however, Viktoria finally got their reward. After a quick combination play on the edge of the box, Durosinmi got the ball and opened the scoring from close range. The first half ended with the home team leading 1-0.

The second half started as briskly as the first. Both teams opted for quick transitions to attack, and the game swung from side to side. Prince Adu had a great opportunity to increase the lead, but his shot was saved by Koutný. In the 56th minute, Adu received a pass on the run and could have gone one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but Abdoulaye Sylla pulled his jersey and was shown a red card.

Less than ten minutes later, Ahmad Ghali fouled Jan Paluska and was also sent off after a VAR review. Coach Miroslav Koubek responded with a double substitution. Svetozar Marković and Denis Višinský came on. Višinský had a huge chance with his first touch of the ball, but the Olomouc defense managed to clear the ball off the goal line before it crossed the line.

In the 83rd minute, Višinský sent an overhit cross to Durosinmi, who volleyed the ball, but it hit the spot where the visiting goalkeeper was standing. Viktoria created several more chances before the final whistle, but failed to convert any of them. The match thus ended with the narrowest possible 1-0 victory.
