On Wednesday 26th October Viktoria Plzeň played the quartefinal match of the MOL Cup against Opava. The starting line-up was significantly changed in comparison with the last match, Aleš Matějů, Jan Suchan, Jan Kovařík or Ergys Kace were given a chance.

There were more than 6 thousand fans at the stadium in Opava craving for the match of the current champion against the third team of the 2nd league. The first chance of the match was shot by the home team when Zalapač tried to pass the ball to the captain Žídek but he was too short to receive the ball. Viktoria did not wait long with the response, Jan Kovařík crossed the ball to Aleš Matějů and he prolonged it to Jan Suchan on 13 minutes. He opened the score by his first goal for Viktoria – 1:0! Opava increased their pace and on 27 minutes Jursa´s sharp ball to the penalty area was stopped by the goalkeeper Bolek right in front of the goal line. Viktorians were boosted by this warning and on 30 minutes of the game they decided to put their opponent under pressure and they locked Opava in their 18-yard box, however, they did not create any goal chance. On 42 minutes Zaplač centred the ball near the gate and Janetzký scored! Tha half-time result was 1:1.

Opava smelled their chance at the beginning of the 2nd half and they wanted to change the score on their side. On 60 minutes Jurečka had an effort on goal but the goalkeeper Bolek excellently saved his attempt. 1 minute later the coach Pivarník substituted two players in one go – Suchan and Hořava were replaced by Kopic and Poznar. Viktoria locked Opava in their penalty area but the crossed passes by Kovařík or Hrošovský did not find any receiver. Surprisingly their opponent had a goal chance and Jurečka scored and turned the match development – 2:1 for Opava. The coach Pivarník reacted to the situation by substitution of Ergys Kace for Marek Bakoš. Bakoš immediately participated in the game and dangerously shot on goal. Although Viktoria put their opponent under pressure it was them who conceded one more goal. On 83 minutes Žídek sent a long-distance shot on goal and scored again. On 89 minutes Plzeň´s pressure caused Hejda´s goal to 3:2, however, all their thoughts of the score equalization were frozen by Tomáš Jursa in the extra time because he scored Opava´s last goal.

Viktoria were saw off the MOL Cup in the quarterfinals when they lost to Opava 4:2.
