Viktoria Plzeň was the first club that was drawn during the Round of 32 draw in Nyon and Ricardo Carvalho reached out for the opponent – GNK Dinamo Zagreb. The Croats topped the group with Spartak Trnava, Fenerbahce Istanbul and RSC Anderlecht to get among seeded teams for the draw.

Dinamo managed to win group D in the UEL over Spartak Trnava, Fenerbahce Istanbul and RSC Anderlecht. They managed to get through the group stage unbeaten with four wins and two draws.

Građanski nogometni klub Dinamo Zagreb was established in the very same year as FC Viktoria Plzeň – 1911. It is the single most successful club of Croatian club football history with 29 championship titles. They are also a dominant force recently with streak of 12 wins over last 13 seasons.

They play their home matches at the iconic Stadium Maksimir. Venue that was opened already on May 5th of 1912 serves also as the main stage for home games of Croatian national team with capacity of 35,000 spectators.

One of the players that still belong to Dinamo is Pilsen-raised Jan Lecjaks, however the 28-year-old now plays for NK Lokomotiva Zagreb and therefore is not on club's squad list for the UEFA Europa League.

Dinamo already played 8 matches against Czech teams throughout their international history out of which they managed to win two. These were against Zbrojovka Brno and Rudá Hvězda Brno. Sparta drew both their games with Dinamo while Příbram won one of their mutual games and drew the other.
