Viktoria´s opponent in the Europa League semi-finals will be Lazio from Rome. What do midfielder Lukáš Červ and assistant coach Marek Bakoš have to say about today´s draw?
Lukáši, are you happy with the lottery ticket?
I guess I am. Both of the opponents that offered themselves are top teams. I´ve played Bilbao before, so I wanted Lazio more.
What does the name of the opponent mean to you?
Top club. Rome is a big and beautiful city, they play in the same stadium as AS and I know they are having a great season, doing well and playing great football. I´m sure we´re not going to have an easy time.
Last year you tried Italian football against Fiorentina. Do we have something to give back to them now?
Last time it was the Conference quarter-finals, now we´ve got them one round earlier. Anything can happen, but just like with Fiorentina, it´s going to be tough again. But it always starts at nil-nil and we´ll be eleven-on-eleven on the pitch. We´ll see how it goes.
Are we confident against a famous opponent?
Of course we do. You have to go into every game with confidence. But at the same time, with humility, because they have a really good team. So we´re going into this with a lot of confidence and a lot of humility. We´ll see what it takes in the end.
Now we start at home at Doosan Arena. What will be important in the first game?
I guess it´s always better to start away, but it worked out this way, that´s the way it is. We´ll want to get a good result so we have something to play for in the rematch in Rome. For example, we got a good result at home against the aforementioned Fiorentina, but they did us in extra time. So we might want to get an even better result at home than a year ago. We are looking forward to it!
Marku, what do you think of the moose?
There were two options, we got Lazio, who won the league phase of the Europa League. So it´s probably the most attractive opponent and we have a lot to look forward to.
They just beat Dynamo Kiev away in the league phase, beat Real Sociedad at home and maybe even drew with Ludogorets. Similar results to us with these opponents. What does that say about Lazio?
It says something about the quality of our opponents. They are an Italian team, they are fighting for the top four in the league, they have a rich history, fans, everything that the top level in Europe has. And our fans definitely have something to look forward to.
Last year we played Fiorentina, can it be similar?
It can. Those teams are similar in quality. Fiorentina played a very good game at our place, we missed a bit, we lost to them in extra time. We have to prepare well for them and we are happy to meet teams like that.
We start at home. What will be the goal for the first game?
We want to play well in front of our fans and put ourselves in a good position to go to Rome with the goal of fighting and looking to advance. It´s a classic playoff doubleheader. The first game is not opened, it is played to set up the result for the rematch. But everything can always be demolished by the first goal and this game is completely different. I´m looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
