FC Viktoria Plzeň will commemorate the 15th anniversary of winning its historic first league title, which the club secured in 2011. An anniversary match awaits, in which the team will also wear unique shirts. These will be available for fans to purchase as part of a limited edition.
In 2011, Viktoria Plzeň celebrated the 100th anniversary of its foundation. And it gave itself the most beautiful possible gift – its first-ever league title. When captain Pavel Horváth lifted the league champion’s trophy above his head in front of a packed crowd at Štruncovy sady, the now legendary fan chant “On that memorable afternoon…” was born.
Fifteen years have passed since this milestone, which was written in golden letters into the club chronicle and into the hearts of all Viktorians. And so we will now commemorate it with a festive anniversary match. It will take place as part of Round 30 of the league in a home match against Pardubice.

“Even today I have only the best memories of that day, and I’m sure all our fans feel the same way. I think it is therefore the ideal time to properly commemorate it. The anniversary match will be a great celebration for everyone who carries the red and blue colours in their hearts,” said Adolf Šádek, Chairman of the Board and CEO of the club.
“An unforgettable moment. All the sweeter because before the season practically no one believed in us and in the end we managed to lift the championship trophy above our heads,” also recalled Daniel Kolář, one of the club legends and a member of the golden team.
For the anniversary match, the club has also prepared a unique set of shirts inspired by the championship ones from 2011, and the club collaborated on their production with the Italian supplier MACRON. They also hide a number of elaborate details, such as the embedded years 1911 (foundation of the club) and 2011 (first title), the championship trophy and the chant “On that memorable afternoon”.

Just like in 2011, the logo of the club’s general partner will appear on the front of the shirt. “Back then it was still the logo of Škoda Power, now it will be DOOSAN. It is symbolic that our general partner has been faithfully with us throughout this time and has experienced all the great club successes of the modern era on both the domestic and European stage,” explained marketing manager Miroslav Bezděka. “Likewise, for this anniversary duel the logo of Tipsport returns to the front of the shirt, which was in the same place in the title-winning year,” he added.
“It’s a beautiful shirt. When I see it, all those wonderful moments we experienced in it immediately come back to me,” said Marek Bakoš, who hung the championship medal around his neck while wearing it.
And while the legendary Slovak striker and his teammates were enjoying the celebrations on the stage, eight-year-old Alexandr Sojka was celebrating with his family directly in the stands. “We had season tickets and were at every match. I experienced it very intensely. And I dreamed that one day I would also wear the Viktoria shirt,” recalls the young footballer, who through diligence and hard work progressed through the Viktoria academy all the way to the first team. “So it is now a really special feeling for me,” he said.

In addition to the players who will wear the anniversary shirt in the match against Pardubice, fans will also get this opportunity. The ONLINE pre-sale will start TOMORROW, THAT IS THURSDAY AT 9:00. A limited edition of 600 pieces will go on sale. There will be two variants to choose from – 485 classic shirts for the symbolic price of 2,011 CZK, or 115 pieces in premium packaging with the signatures of Marek Bakoš and Daniel Kolář, this luxury edition will cost 2,899 CZK.
“The pre-sale will run online on the Viktoria shop website, which means that a fan will purchase the shirt and it will be sent to them no later than April 9, meaning with delayed delivery,” explained marketing manager Miroslav Bezděka.
“We have also prepared a challenge for fans to send us their memories and experiences from the first title-winning season in the form of photos, videos or other artefacts, through the club website. The club partner Tipsport will then prepare a big surprise for the best selected contributions,” explained club spokesman Václav Hanzlík. You can share your experiences HERE.
“A whole range of other activities will also be prepared, for example with the main partner Gambrinus. For fans it will certainly be a big attraction that after fifteen years they will once again be able to meet the golden generation from that time. The accompanying programme will be presented gradually,” concluded the club spokesman.
