Today’s decision by UEFA has sent Viktoria Plzeň straight to the Europa League playoffs. This means that Viktoria will not enter the competition until the second half of August, when they will compete in a two-leg series to try to secure a spot in the group stage.
The matches in the second qualifying round of the Europa League against Tromsø do not concern Viktoria Plzeň. Viktoria will not enter the competition’s group stage until the playoffs in August. This was decided by today’s UEFA ruling.
“We have accepted this decision by UEFA and are definitely counting on entering the competition in the second half of August as part of the playoffs. This means that, at this point, we are guaranteed at least a spot in the Conference League, but our goals remain unchanged. We want to do everything we can to advance to the group stage of the Europa League,” said Adolf Šádek, chairman of the board and CEO of the club.
Viktoria will learn the name of their playoff opponent at the draw in Nyon, Switzerland, which will take place on Monday, August 3. The match dates are set for Thursdays, specifically August 20 and 27.
