Martin Hyský is stepping down as head coach of Viktoria Plzeň. The club will announce the name of his successor in the coming days.

Fifty-year-old manager Martin Hyský was sacked today as head coach of Viktoria Plzeň. The decision was taken by the club’s management immediately upon their return from the cup match in Belgrade. Along with him, his assistants Petr Hejný, Radim Grussmann and Tomáš Pupkay, as well as goalkeeping coach Václav Winter, are also leaving.

“We didn’t get off to a good start to the season; we won’t hide that. However, the decisive factor for us was the overall direction of the team and the standard of play, which does not match Viktoria Plzeň’s ambitions,” said Adolf Šádek, the club’s chief executive and chairman of the board.

“We would like to thank Martin and his assistants for the work they have done for the club over the past year or so. Our paths are now parting, and we wish them every success in their future careers,” added Adolf Šádek, noting that the name of the successor is currently being discussed. “We are in intensive talks regarding a new manager, whom we hope to introduce in the coming days,” he added.
