In the sixth round of the Europa League group stage, Viktoria Plzeň traveled to Athens to face Panathinaikos. Despite playing with a man down, they managed to hold their Greek opponents to a 0-0 draw, with both teams taking home a point.

Viktoria embarked on another European journey to Greece, where they faced Panathinaikos. Before the match, both teams were close behind each other in the table with the same number of points, so the duel promised to be an active spectacle full of battles for every ball from the start. The home team was the first to threaten when Sverrir Ingi got his head to a corner kick, but he shot over the goal.

On the other side, Amar Memić caused problems for the opponent's defense, creating several promising chances with his quick runs down the right wing. He finished one of them with a sharp shot, but it missed the goal. In the 23rd minute, Florian Wiegele also had to intervene, clearing a dangerous attempt by Filip Djuričić at the edge of the penalty area.

In the 33rd minute, there was an unpleasant turning point for Plzeň. The referee showed Václav Jemelka a yellow card for a foul, which was the defender's second of the match. This was followed by a red card, and Viktoria had to finish the game with ten men. Coach Martin Hyský immediately responded to the situation with a double substitution. He sent Svetozar Marković and Cheick Souaré into the game, while Prince Adu and Denis Višinský left the field. Even after being weakened, Viktoria did not give up and continued to attack actively. At the same time, Wiegele made several important saves to keep his team in the game, so the first half ended goalless.

Viktoria started the second half better, creating several set pieces right from the start. However, none of them resulted in a goal. Panathinaikos gradually began to gain the upper hand, spending more time on the ball thanks to their numerical superiority and getting within striking distance of the Plzeň penalty area. However, Viktoria's players defended excellently and did not allow their opponents any significant chances. Their determination and commitment brought a well-deserved reward, as they took a valuable point from Athens to the European table after the final whistle.
