Striker Michael Krmenčík bids his farewell to Viktoria Plzeň. He passed the health check and has been transferred to the Belgian city of Bruges.

On the Wednesday evening, Viktoria Plzeň received a very interesting and serious offer regarding the transfer of Michael Krmenčík. The striker received a green light from the club management to travel for Bruges and go through medical examinations. “The offer satisfied all of our demands, unlike some of the previous ones. It was a very serious offer and we decided to accept it,” Adolf Šádek, general manager, explained.

The 26 years old striker said his last goodbye to his teammates that evening and on the Thursday morning he boarded a plane heading to Belgium, where he successfully passed the health check in the afternoon. After that, the transfer was officially confirmed. “Michael Krmenčík has been transferred to Brugges. On the behalf of the whole team, I would like to express a big thanks to him for his services. He was one of our most important players and he was one of the key elements of the team’s success in the last couple of years,” Adolf Šádek said.

“Michael went through a really difficult period; he had to get over a knee injury. He managed to return at his full strength, so the foreign teams expressed their interest in him. We had a deal, that in case of really tempting offer for the both sides, we will not prevent him from leaving. We kept our side of the deal. Thanks to the player’s agent Daniel Smejkal, who accompanied the player in Bruges, everything went smoothly. I wish Michael all the best to his first international contract. His home will be always here and we will always gladly welcome him back,” Adolf Šádek concluded.

The coach Adrian Guľa managed to say goodbye to the young striker as well. “He has done a tremendous job for Viktoria in the last few years. I wished him luck in his Belgian adventure,” the Slovakian coach said.

Michael Krmenčík played total of 127 matches in the elite Czech league and scored 54 goals. His score in Plzeň: 91 matches / 45 goals. In addition, he played in the 27 European Cups matches and scored 12 times. He has won three titles with Viktoria. He was the decisive player in the clashes with Sparta Prague. During the 2017/2018 season, he struck the most goals in the whole league, his amazing performance was crowned in the last round, where he scored his first career hattrick. He fought for Plzeň and he was the fans’ favourite.
