Viktoria have played their opening game of the Champions League group stage. And it was a very difficult start - against Barcelona they lost 1:5 at the famous Camp Nou.

The Viktorians started well and it was they who got into two breakthrough situations, but they couldn´t finish either of them. Barcelona, on the other hand, enjoyed their first shot on target - Ousmane Dembélé´s corner kick was extended by Jules Koundé to a free Franck Kessié to make it 1-0 in the 13th minute.

Ansu Fati was the next to get into a good position, his long shot from outside the box heading just wide of the three posts. Cannonballer Robert Lewandowski sent the Blaugranas into a two-goal lead when he finished the action from a counter-attack after a Pilsen turnover in the middle of the park. Moments later, Jindřich Staněk scored against a cross from Sergi Robert.

Five minutes before the end of the half, Lewandowski exchanged the ball beautifully with the finishing Pedri, whose cross to Stanek on the goal line was saved by Jemelka. Before going to the booths, the Viktorians reduced the deficit - Jemelka sent a fluffy centre to Jan Sykora´s header and the West Germans could rejoice at Camp Nou! But Barcelona took back the two-goal lead almost immediately, with a header from Lewandowski, and the half ended 3-1 to the home side.

The second 45 minutes started with a chance for Plzeň, Hejda headed over after a Kalvach centre. In the 65th minute, Michal Bílek´s charges threw away a huge opportunity when Jhon Mosquera´s cross was headed over the crossbar by Tomas Chorý from the small area. A minute later Lewandowski completed his hat-trick, 4:1.

Twenty minutes from the end, Dembélé´s clever curve found substitute Ferran Torres, who scored Barcelona´s fifth goal from a volley. Nothing more happened for the rest of the match, and the Westerners fell to the home team 1:5.
