Head coach Miroslav Koubek, Lukáš Kalvach and Matěj Valenta answered journalists´ questions at the press conference after the first joint training session.

Are you satisfied with the squad you have now? Because there have been some changes.

I think we´re in a good place in terms of personnel. Thanks to the arrival of the guys from Slavia, the competition in the middle has increased, and that´s always good. Of course, we know about Rafi´s absence, who can´t train with the team yet. But even without him we managed to cope, and at the end of the year we had to cope without Tomáš Chorý. The arrivals have revived the current squad, there has been some oxygenation. We´ll see what Souaré from Vyškov will do, we also have the Estonian international Tamm on trial. The biggest and most important additions to the squad are Cervo and Valenta. The departure of Stanek is of course noticeable. When a national team goalkeeper leaves, it can seem like a weakening at first. Time will tell if it really was. We have absolute confidence in the goalkeeping trio that is here.

You have a team loaded with really good players. Is it possible to expect any more shifts?

I´m not kicking anyone out. On the contrary, I like it when a team has a lot of quality players. Everybody here has quality. That´s the way I like it. It´s like that in every strong team and there are teams that have a lot more players. That creates quality competition that enhances everyone´s performance. It drives performance. Everyone has to be able to cope with it.

What are your ambitions going into the spring season? Because you will be fighting on three fronts.

We´ll be looking at all three fronts. As far as the league is concerned. We are in third place and we have a strong opponent at our level in the form of Slovácko. We are happy that we have broken away from that loop with our last three league wins. Every team in the league is chasing cups. We are watching our backs and we know that the lead of Prague S is high. We´ve let them down with home losses. In the MOL Cup, we will try for the highest grapes. In the European Conference League we will wait for the draw. We´ll see what the position is. In Europe, we don´t want to say the last word yet.

Lukáš, how do you train in such weather when the temperature drops below zero?

It´s classically cold for preparation. It´s always like that. The training was nutritious, it was the first training on the field. It´s always harder after a break. I believe that in a fortnight we´ll be well prepared and in Spain we´ll be fine-tuning.

How are you looking forward to working with Lukas Cervo and Matej Valenta? Have you had time to welcome them yet?

We definitely have quality young players who have been performing well at their clubs. It´s only good for us that they will strengthen us, reinforce us and bring something new. We haven´t done much with the boys yet. We went through the tests in groups and it was only today that we all got together for the first time. We´ll have a lot to talk about in a few days and we´ll definitely give the boys a good welcome.

What are the goals for you and the cabin for the spring?

For all of us, those goals are always the highest. We play in three competitions and we want to do our best in each one. The conference league will be seen by the opponent. We´d like to go as far as we can in that league. The clear goal is to succeed in the MOL Cup because that is the way to Europe. In the league, we missed the top a bit, but we still want to beat both Prague S.

Matěj, how do you feel in the Pilsen jersey?

I feel great. Pilsen is a big club with a great and rich history. In the last ten years they have won a lot of cups, and this season is not bad either. I am very happy to be here.

Viktoria Plzeň´s midfield is quite full. Do you see a lot of competition?

Definitely, there are five guys for two positions. There´s a lot of competition, but that´s part of the big club that Plzeň is. I didn´t look at that too much. I believe that I will make my way and that we will be successful.

Do you believe you will build on your successful autumn?

I hope so. I played well in the autumn and now it´s up to me to see if I can build on that here.
