The first preparatory match is over for the Victorians. On Saturday morning they defeated Žižkov 2:0 thanks to goals by Matej Vydra and Pavel Šulc. This is how assistant coach Marek Bakoš evaluates it.

Marek, are you satisfied with the first preparatory match?

I´m satisfied with the whole first week of training, which we finished today. But it was a bit spoiled by the fact that Honza Sýkora had to substitute in the first half due to a knee injury. Otherwise, a lot of work was done, we created a lot of chances in the game, scored two goals and pulled it out to victory.

How does it look with Honza Sýkora?

We don´t have exact information yet, we´ll see. Now he will have to be examined and we hope that it will not be serious.

The new reinforcements also made their first appearance, how did they do?

They all started the game and every player played half time. They have had a busy week which has been very intense and a lot of work has been done. Obviously they´ve been here for a short period of time, getting to know the cabin and so far so good, they´re meeting our expectations.

Did you appreciate that the game was played on perfectly prepared turf?

I have to give credit to everyone who looks after the turf, it was excellent and we make the most of it during the week. Of course it´s better than artificial grass, all the players appreciate that.

What´s in store for the players in the second week of training?

Again it will be combined, so game stuff and fitness stuff. We are on the field very often, we work on these things as well, and at the same time we run. We will continue in a similar vein in the next week before we leave for training camp.

On Wednesday we have a second preparatory match, will you go into it with similar tasks?

Yes, it will be in a similar setup as today. We´ll set it up a bit differently again, we´ll want to see around 20 players again."
