After first-half goals from David Krčík and Cheick Souaré, the visitors pulled one back after the break, but Denis Višinský sealed the win with a beautiful strike. Youngster Adam Kadlec also made his debut in the red-and-blue shirt.
The opening kick-off of today’s match belonged to the visitors. They created their first big chance as early as the 3rd minute, but the shot from outside the box missed the target. In the 8th minute, FC Viktoria Plzeň took the lead after a corner kick, as David Krčík scored his first goal in Viktoria colours. The visitors tried several through balls, but the alert Wiegele dealt with every situation. Viktoria defended well and didn’t allow Liberec any clear-cut chances. In the 28th minute, the visitors sent in a cross, but the ball ended safely in Wiegele’s gloves. Seven minutes later, Višinský received the ball from Hrošovský at midfield, switched play to Červ, who passed to Memić, but his first-time finish went just wide. In the 43rd minute, Cheick Souaré scored with a beautiful strike. The goal was briefly reviewed but eventually confirmed. Liberec had a huge chance in stoppage time, when a cross found a visiting player inside the box, but he fired over the bar. Viktoria went into the dressing room with a 2–0 lead at half-time.
The second half started better for the visitors. Early on, Lukáš Mašek pulled one back. FC Slovan Liberec kept pushing against Plzeň’s defence, but it held firm. A big opportunity came in the 56th minute when Hrošovský’s cross flew across the box. Červ got to the ball, but Koubek managed to save. In the 76th minute, Denis Višinský cut inside and fired a beautiful low shot from outside the box to beat Koubek. In the 83rd minute, Adam Kadlec came on and made his debut in the red-and-blue shirt. Another big chance followed in the 85th minute when Memić set up Vašulín for a breakaway, but his shot went wide. Nothing more happened in the second half, and Viktoria secured a 3–1 victory over Liberec.
