The home team Servette got off to a better start. They took the lead in the fourth minute after a corner kick. Rouiller, unmarked at the near post, flicked on the cross and Montunes finished it off. However, Plzeň tried to shake it off as quickly as possible and reduce Servette's overall lead. They succeeded after less than half an hour of play. Karel Spáčil was alone at the edge of the six-yard box. He volleyed a cross from Sampson Dweh into the near post to equalize.

But moments later, Viktoria took the lead! Matěj Vydra took a shot, which the home goalkeeper parried in front of him, and the captain ran up and lobbed the ball into the goal. At that moment, the aggregate score was tied. Viktoria continued to push for more goals. Despite creating chances, they failed to score, and the teams went into the break with Plzeň leading 2-1.

At the beginning of the second half, the home team also tried to equalize. The goal did not come, but instead, Adrian Zeljković received a red card. However, the home team only played with a man advantage for a few minutes. Severin received a second yellow card, and the match was played out with ten players on each side.

The decisive moment came at the end of the match. One of Servette's defenders fouled Merchase Doski in the penalty area, and the referee awarded a penalty kick. Rafiu Durosinmi took the kick. The Plzeň striker converted it and gave Viktoria a two-goal lead. The West Bohemian club maintained its lead and advanced to the third qualifying round of the Champions League!
