The project called “Let’s warm up at Viktoria” moved on to its third phase. Once again, the pupils and employees of the partnership schools attended a league match, this time the match against Liberec at the end of February.

The defender Václav Jemelka personally visited one of the partnership schools, particularly the 25th elementary school in Pilsen, to meet and greet its pupils. “I’d like to thank you all for your great interest in the match against Liberec. I hope you’re all gonna come and support us, because we will need you,” said the FCVP defender in front of the crowded school auditorium.

The stopper wearing the number 21 on his back also answered some of the questions from curious pupils. Does “Džem” prefer assisting to scoring? “Of course, everybody like scoring goals the most, but I’m glad for the assists as well. When my pass leads to a goal, it’s the same for me as if I’d scored,” said Václav Jemelka clearly.

The Viktorian also revealed he had started his professional career in Uničov when he was 5 years old, and that his football idol was Giorgio Chiellini from Juventus. “I used to play as a central midfielder and I liked Steven Gerrard at that time. When I switched positions, I became more interested in defensemen,” he added.

After the Q&A, a photo and autograph session started. The project “Viktoria - back to schools” was successful once again. “There are 21 elementary schools involved in this project and we decided we would like to invite all of their pupils and teachers to Viktoria football matches. We chose three first spring rounds for that, but we had to extend it to four rounds, because of the huge interest. During those four matches, there will be almost 10,000 pupils with their escorts attending the games in the Doosan Arena. That was our goal and it’s fantastic,” said Václav Hanzlík, the club’s press spokesman.

The pupils from 11th, 14th, 17th, 25th and 26th elementary schools in Pilsen cheered for Viktoria against Liberec in the Doosan Arena and they were absolutely great! Thanks for your support!
