Viktoria Plzeň played against Baník Ostrava in the 3rd round of the extra time in Doosan Arena. The match ended with Ostrava winning 2:1. Václav Jemelka scored the only goal for Plzeň.

In the case of today´s victory, Viktoria would definitely secure second place in the league table and thus also participate in the Champions League qualification. There was a lot of pressure on the match and from the opening whistle there was active football. Pilsen started very energetically and created several scoring opportunities within the first ten minutes. Lukáš Červ took two dangerous shots, whose attempts tested the Ostrava goalkeeper. The goal was just a few seconds away. Jan Paluska also had a great chance, who found himself in a promising position in the 5th minute, but from an angle he was unable to beat Dominik Holc.

In the 13th minute, the bar rang in the Doosan Arena. Amar Memić took a shot and the goalkeeper Holec was lucky to knock it into the net. Then the visitors got into the game. Erik Prekop took a centre but his header missed the target. Less than ten minutes later Matěj Vydra had an independent breakthrough, but he didn´t make it either, as his shot just missed the target.

Pilsen continued to keep the pressure on and launched dangerous quick counterattacks. Prince Adu was very active and was hardly stopped by the defenders. The cooperation between Šulc and Cadu was also dangerous, as they combined several times to reach the penalty area. However, even they could not turn the pressure into a leading goal. At the end of the first half, the pace of the game calmed down a bit and we went into the booths tied 0:0.

The second half started in the same vein. Pavel Šulc received a long pass along the line, Prince Adu was on the other side, but the midfielder failed to get the ball to him. In the 52nd minute, Viktoria played a corner and after a few bounces, the ball went to Pavel Šulc. He finished from a volley but missed the target. The score changed five minutes later. Lukáš Kalvach played a corner and accurately found Václav Jemelka, who opened the scoring with his head. However, Pilsen´s lead lasted only a moment. In the 69th minute Buchta scored to equalise and four minutes later Dennis Owusu turned the game around.

Coach Miroslav Koubek reacted with several substitutions and sent the attacking duo of Durosinmi and Vasulin on the field to replace Prince Adua and Matej Vydra. Rafiu Durosinmi worked the ball in the penalty area, turned quickly but was prevented from finishing by a defender who blocked his shot at the crucial moment.

The Victorians tried to turn the tide. They exerted constant pressure and laid siege to the Ostrava defence. Several promising chances were created. For example, Václav Jemelka shot at the back post, Pavel Šulc headed from the penalty area, but none of these attempts ended up in the net. At the very end Matěj Valenta could have equalised, but his shot from a volley flew too high. Viktoria Plzeň lost to Baník Ostrava 1:2.
