The Plzeň footballers were close to advancing when they equalized in the second half and outplayed their opponents in the final minutes. The match had to be decided by a penalty shootout, in which the visitors were luckier, ending Plzeň´s European journey.

The visitors dominated the early stages of the match. The home side had an interesting set piece in the 4th minute, but failed to threaten the goal. Viktoria defended very well, but were punished in the 9th minute. Tetteh, as in the previous match, managed to escape the defenders and opened the scoring with a shot to the far post. Between the 12th and 13th minutes, Plzeň survived an unpleasant passage of play, with the opponent sending several crosses into the penalty area. They came close to scoring, but Memić returned in time to defuse the dangerous situation. In the 17th minute, Lawal had a great opportunity, but the visiting defense intervened at the last moment. The game then shifted mainly to the center of the field, where there were many tough battles for every ball. In the 21st minute, Lawal had another huge chance. After a quick combination, he shot on goal, but his attempt narrowly missed the target. Four minutes later, Ladra took matters into his own hands, outwitting two opponents and trying to cross the ball, but the defenders deflected his attempt for a corner kick. After the resulting corner, Memić shot over the bar. The home side tried to break down the Greek defense, but they did not create any significant chances before the break. The teams went into the locker rooms with the visitors leading 0-1.

The home team also dominated the start of the second half. In the 49th minute, Souaré tried a shot across the goal, but it only resulted in a corner kick. Seven minutes later, Souaré found Adua with a cross, but his shot ended up in the goalkeeper's arms. In the 62nd minute, Ladra took matters into his own hands again. His run from the wing forced the goalkeeper to intervene, and Viktoria earned another corner. It was from this corner that the equalizer came – Spáčil jumped onto the cross and scored with a precise header to make it 1-1. The home team deservedly got back into the game. However, complications arose in the 77th minute. After a mistake by Spáčil and a subsequent foul by Adua, the visitors were awarded a free kick from a very dangerous distance. Plzeň weathered the storm and continued to play actively. The end of regular time belonged to Viktoria. The home team gave their opponents almost no chance and sent one cross after another into the penalty area, but the desired second goal did not come. The winner had to be decided in extra time.

Right after the start of extra time, Tetteh threatened, but his header missed the goal. Plzeň then played with a numerical advantage when a substitute player from the visitors received a red card after ten minutes on the pitch. There were no significant chances in the first half of extra time, so the game continued into the second half. In the 115th minute, the opponents had a huge chance, but Dweh managed to get back in time and made a key save to prevent an almost certain goal. The end of extra time offered open play on both sides, but no decision was made, so it went to penalties. The visitors were luckier in the penalty shootout, and Viktoria's European journey came to an end.
