After the winter break, Viktoria Plzeň returned to league action. Right in the opening round of the spring season, they were tested in a match in Karviná, from where they took home three important points in the league table thanks to two goals by Denis Višinský.

The first league match of the spring season featured a clash between two teams that were right next to each other in the table. It was clear from the start that both teams wanted to get off to a successful start in the spring season. The match picked up pace right from the first minutes and was played with offensive football up and down the field. The home team had the first serious chance, but they were stopped by the excellent goalkeeper Wiegele, who saved a shot from close range. On the other side, Višinský ran behind the defense to get the ball, but failed in a one-on-one situation. The fans watched a game rich in opportunities, with goalkeepers Wiegele and Lapeš competing in saves.

In the end, it was the home goalkeeper who was beaten first. In the 27th minute, Denis Višinský got the ball in the penalty area and calmly put it in the back of the net. In the 33rd minute, Slončík launched a quick counterattack, sending Memić on a breakaway. He decided to shoot from distance, but Lapeš was ready. Karviná tried to do something about the unfavorable situation and, at the end of the first half, earned a set piece after a foul by Jemelka, who received a yellow card for his intervention. However, the home team failed to capitalize on the opportunity, and so Viktoria went into the locker room feeling more satisfied.

Both teams entered the second half with changes to their lineups. Coach Martin Hyský made two substitutions, replacing Vydra and Slončík with Sojka and Souaré. The game remained the same as in the first half, with offensive football full of battles for every ball. In the 51st minute, Bosnian midfielder Memić once again went on an offensive run and found Souaré unmarked. Souaré kept his cool and passed the ball to Hrošovský, whose immediate shot was deflected wide of the goal. In the 60th minute, Višinský took center stage again, combining with Sojka to make it 2-0. Even then, Karviná did not give up and pushed for a dramatic comeback, but Wiegele was confident in Viktoria's goal. First, he saved Šigut's shot from close range, and a few minutes later, he also neutralized another attempt from the edge of the penalty area.

In the 77th minute, two-goal scorer Višinský was replaced by Viktoria's newest signing, Salim Lawal, who made his debut in the red and blue jersey. Dávid Krčík also made his debut, starting in the starting lineup. Five minutes before the end, Karviná's net rippled once more when Cheick Souaré scored, but the goal was ultimately disallowed due to offside. Viktoria Plzeň thus won 2-0 in Karviná and made a successful start to the spring part of the league season.
