Audiences, emotions, big premieres or flashy scenes. Football and theatre have more in common than you might think. And in Pilsen, they will now be even closer. Representatives of Viktoria Plzeň and the J. K. Tyl Theatre signed a memorandum of cooperation today.
A shiny stage in the form of theatre boards or freshly cut lawn. Passion for the game. Emotions that the audience enjoys right in the auditorium and takes home with them. Sold-out performances, auditoriums or even big premieres. Football and theatre. Worlds that are far apart at first sight, but extremely close at second. And in Pilsen they will now increasingly connect and cooperate.
Representatives of Viktoria Plzeň and the J. K. Tyl Theatre today signed a memorandum of long-term cooperation.
"Establishing a new partnership confirms that football today is not just about the game itself, but has a society-wide overlap and can seek mutual synergies in various areas. The connection between football and culture is of great importance, I am happy that we are joining forces with a strong partner from our city and I look forward to a number of joint projects that we are preparing and intend to implement for the fans, spectators, our entire city and region," said Adolf Šádek, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the club after signing the memorandum.
"Pilsen is a city of sport and a city of culture. We have been cooperating with Viktorka for a long time, and I am happy that this cooperation is taking on even bigger and more concrete contours. Cooperation between the sports and cultural sectors is something unprecedented. I am proud that we are witnessing such synergy in Pilsen. The motto of one city, one heart is fully valid," said Roman Zarzycký, Mayor of Pilsen, about the unique joining of forces.
"At first glance, it might seem that theatre and football are completely different worlds, but both are connected by passion, emotion and the ability to connect people. Both theatre and football are about the unforgettable atmosphere and energy that flows between the audience and the players or actors. I believe that our connection will bring new opportunities and show how close culture and sport can be," commented Martin Otava, the director of Viktoria Plzeň and J. K. Tyl Theatre.

The first joint project is the opening home league game of the spring season, which the Victorians will play on Saturday, February 8 at 7 pm.
